Colorlines.com recently published an article on shifting attitudes and definitions of contemporary racism. Especially note how different racial groups emphasis racism as a individual vs. a group phenomenon. It is easy to understand how when racism is conceptualized as an individual's hateful acts, it can seem like racism is a thing of the past, rather than a modern institutionalized system.
