Color of Freedom is about the apartheid in South Africa. It follows a white prison warden and his family as they struggle as to overcome their prejudices to ultimately reach a new enlightenment and save the day.
Oh yeah and Nelson Mandela is in it too.
Typical, huh?
So is your "typical" question a recommendation to watch? I do get tired of "white (teacher/preacher/mother/reporter/etc) saves the day" storylines, but struggling to overcome prejudices is something that I wish more of us white folk would strive to do...
ReplyDeleteheh. I was making fun of the movie more than anything. It was ok. But not great.
ReplyDeleteI recently received recommendations for both Blindside and Finding Forester from a reliable source. She said that Hollywood "got it right" with these, showing how one can lend a helping hand without playing into the white savior complex too much. Haven't seen either myself though .
