I definitely agree that it does make a difference to a POC when he or she feels welcomed in a mainly majority environment. However, I would caution against over exuberance in making the POc feel wecome. In other words, dont suffocate them! In my experience, this over attention is almost as bad as being ignored because the poc is still othered by getting special attention. Its like saying "omg we re so glad you re here to save us from the damning image that we re segregated and worse racist!" unfortunately, this response can put the burden of racial reconciliation squarely on the shoulders of the poc because it makes them the savior rather than a sister or brother in Christ. Put simply, show pocs the same love of Christ you would show your white sister or brother, a love that is both purposeful and full of grace."StrngeFruithttp://bytheirstrangefruit.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1475128319218423248.post-33858312430641446462012-06-01T18:33:30.933-04:002012-06-01T18:33:30.933-04:00 Can you write an article about Dave Bailey's ... Each race has their own beliefs, and songs that should be sung regardless of place of worship. Different races does not relate to every song they here. If God is not finish with us, why do we try to put everyone in the same box? People are INDIVIDUALS not chickens. Each race feels strange when in the midst of another. But that's a good thing! That goes to prove that we are all from Adam and Eve...not monkies!Foxy Grandmanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1475128319218423248.post-32153175991033170742012-05-28T18:12:15.438-04:002012-05-28T18:12:15.438-04:00Insightful point! How ironic to be disturbed by CBC's, and not by the racial plank in one's own eye! heh...at least the CBC was upfront with its mission, rather than to imply inclusion, while functioning in exclusivity in practice.
